hello summer!

hiiii
first year's over.
that was. waaaay fast :(

anyways, funny pictureee i'd like to share with you guys:

lol. i like the guy with the gum in his mouth hehehehee :)!
definitely a classic shot.

first year was definitely fun. i was pretty sad to leave ucla but now im happy to be home :) i missed the good ol' pmt and reaaaal chinese food (rendezvous was a love-hate relationship :( )
im excited for summer!
i'll finally see my brother in china! it's been like 2 years.
i'm excited for possible camping trips, and just hanging out with hs people again :)
i really hope i get a job tho. i lost/spent so much money this past year :( sigh

this summer definitely doesn't feel liek the old summers tho. in high school, summer came as a big sigh of relief, but i feel like im really easing into summer this year. i dont feel the usual burst of summer excitement and freedom. maybe cuz school at ucla feels like summer school all year long haha. i guess that's a good thing. either that, or im burdened with the worry that summers from now on really count, and if i dont move my butt and get going on things im going to be really behind on school, jobs, internships, self growth, etc. summers arent stress free anymore :(

but, of course, im thankful we still have summers.
one day we won't :(

but till then, lets enjoy them :)

[edit]

on a sidenote:
i really like 'kings of convenience' these days. they're really mellow guitar music that reminds me of a modern simon and garfunkel
http://youtube.com/watch?v=T-lzFY1IFWw&feature=related
i love the piano/guitar combo :)
their placid expressions make me think they're expressionless robots playing pretty music. :)
but in some of their other videos they actually dance and seem alive
like this one:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=_GD5voAaod8
the music video setting is so pretty. i think its either norway or france.

butyeah. go listenkthanks. :)

Instead of studying for finals, I took an IQ test

Congratulations, Janet!
Your IQ score is 140

This number is based on a scientific formula that compares how many questions you answered correctly on the Classic IQ Test relative to others.

Your Intellectual Type is Visionary Philosopher. This means you are highly intelligent and have a powerful mix of skills and insight that can be applied in a variety of different ways. Like Plato, your exceptional math and verbal skills make you very adept at explaining things to others — and at anticipating and predicting patterns. And that's just some of what we know about you from your IQ results.

i think i took this test before though...so maybe its not completely accurate.
ohwells!

random thoughts

i'm so happy to have new songs on my ipod...i've had the same stuff since winter break...

anyways it's 3:20 in the morning and my eyes have been burning since like...1am. yet i'm still sitting here typing away on my computer..

i've just been compelled (impelled.haha.) to write down random thoughts..even though i don't even know what thoughts they are yet...

but im in a comtemplative mood. i'm sitting here at my desk with my Album Leaf music playing which is very nice and relaxing. i would definitely recommend them - try "The Outer Banks" and "Another Day". very relaxing, and neither of them have words so its definitely not distracting. haha.

i went to a cereal bar today and had the sweetest, most chocolate-y bowl cereal ever...and paid 5 bucks for it.
it was an interesting experience...i was just curious...cuz who thought that a business that makes bowls of cereals for you could actually be successful? yah. so. i had cocoa puffs, cocoa krispies, NUTELLA (super frickin good hazelnut spread), fresh strawberries and bananas, and banana milk. it was good till i got to the end when my chocolate cereal was mushy with the milk and thickened with the nutella. i think i almost had a heart attack. i don't think i'll be going back anytime soon..but if i ever do i will not choose that many chocolatey ingredients. the banana milk was good though :) on par with strawberry milk :) yum.

i also bought a sketch book today. im hoping it'll get me to start practicing more..i havne't really drawn drawn since like junior year..i'm really out of practice. like...i really like drawing faces. but i never practice bodies..so i basically have a bunch of heads floating around on my paper. gotta start making complete people..

hm. what else.

first year is flying by like no other. i feel like the last three fridays just happened, but suddenly, its friday again. actaully, now it's saturday. eveennnn laterrrrrr..haha. but seriously we're almost not first years anymore :( im sad that im gonna have to start calling myself a second year.

but suurrrrriously. i randomly thought back to orientation the other day, and the beginning of the year, and who i met at those times who i've gotten to know now. it's really weird, cuz orientation feels so recent, yet we've gotten to know soo many people since then, in such a short period of time. it's weird to think that i didn't know any of these kids like...6 months ago.

it's weird that just a few months before THAT we were still in high school, hanging out in the hallways, going to APLang after break, going to miyaki's for lunch, and watching movies in physiology, carrying our little high school backpacks and just..being high school students. it sounds so young now. soo young. but i still remember when i thought college was like WHOA there, OLD PEOPLE! haha...but yeah. i guess thats us now.

time really just..passes extremely fast. extremelyy. like, sometimes, i wish it would just slooww down. just like, hooold on, let me think about what i'm doing, and figure out what i want to do with my future because the signup times for classes comes way too fast and i haven't even figured out what i want to take yet. just hold your horses, seiorsuly. whats the rush. haha. i really wish we could do that..

but i guess now that time seems to go by so fast, you just have to go along with it. accept this change and look to the future. don't think so much about the past, let it go. if you're not happy about something, don't dwell on it. it'll just take more time...we've just got to acknowledge it, and then move on, and take action to change what you don't like.

it's hard but i'm trying to do that more...

gotta get off my lazy butt and actually try and figure things out. and do what i want to do, what im interested in.

no more retarded GE's that i don't care about...

time to do what i want.

When one door of happiness closes, another opens:
but often we look so long at the closed door that
we do not see the one which has been opened for us.
Helen Keller

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by
the things you didn't do than by the ones you did.
So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover.
